A negative amount of Super may calculate on a timesheet if a large super adjustment was entered on an adjustment pay earlier in the month. Attache checks how much super has already been calculated for the month and adjusts a current pay calculation accordingly, which can cause the Super calculation to become a negative amount.
To resolve this issue, create an adjustment pay to resolve this issue:
Create a new Adjustment pay for the affected employee.
In the Add/Modify Adjustment Pays screen, Select the Employee Code.
In the Function field, select E=Add new pay - start with Empty Pay.
Tab to the footer section and enter a Pay Description.
Click the Payment required checkbox (this will allow to see the adjustment on a pay advice).
Click Accept (F9).
In the New Line Type field, select E=Employer Contribution/Super.
Select the Code as the super guarantee code.
Enter the value of super adjustment In the Amount field.
Select the Employee Account Code.
When finished, click Accept (F9) and Finish (Esc).
Run Check Pays, selecting to include Adjustments only.
📌Note: Enter the Month End date in both Pay Period Ending and Date Paid fields. Ensure the dates are in the same period/month as the original transactions. If super adjustments are entered as an earlier date than the Month end date in a month, they will affect the calculation of super for pays processed afterwards.
Process the pay as per normal. See: The Payroll Process Pays Workflow.
Other notes relating to Super Adjustments
Transactions that relate to a prior year can be entered into the prior year company and a super contributions file can then be generated from that company.
Submitting a STP file successfully may not be possible, depending on how long after the year end this is done.
If the super has already been transmitted to a Clearing House for the period concerned, a further Super contribution file can be generated from both Click Super or the Super Stream Alternate File. See: Setups to use Clicksuper or the Superstream Alternate File.
The extra super amounts can use the same date range as the previous contribution.
Only those amounts not already transmitted, or a file created, will appear on the report/file.
