See the sections and steps below for reversing an employee termination pay (ETP) and re-entering it correctly.
Reversing an ETP
Go to Transactions, Payroll, Adjustments, Create or Modify.
Select the appropriate Employee Code.
To the message "Terminated employee - Continue?", choose Yes.
Select Function and choose Add new pay - start with Other pay.
In the Adjustment Pay Number field, choose Find (F2) and then select ETP.
Select Accept (F9).
Press Enter.
Enter a Pay Description, for example: "Reversal of incorrect ETP".
Choose Reverse (F8). Select Yes to reverse the pay.
Choose Select Term Pay (F5) to check that the ETP amounts are reversed (This will show the negative amounts for ETP). Also ensure the ETP date is the same as the original ETP to properly reverse that ETP.
Select Accept (F9) and Accept (F9) again then Finish (Esc) to accept the pay.
Go to Transactions, Process Payroll, Check Payroll, Check Pays.
Ensure the Pay Ending Date and Date Paid is the same as the original ETP pay.
📌Note: You should have already checked that the ETP date is the same as the original ETP in step 10.
Set only the Adjustment Pays check box to Yes.
Select Accept (F9).
You can now take a backup of the company, process the payroll and update the files.
Re-enter the ETP pay correctly
Go to Transactions, Process Payroll, Adjustments, Create or Modify.
Select the appropriate Employee Code.
To the message "Terminated employee - Continue?", choose Yes.
Re-enter the ETP pay correctly. The ETP date may be different depending on the date the ETP was paid, the correction you are making, etc.
Go to Transactions, Process Payroll, Check Payroll, Check Pays
Enter the correct Pay Period Ending and Date Paid dates (which may be different to the original pay depending on the correction you are making) and set only the Adjustment Pays check box to Yes.
Select Accept (F9).
You can now take a backup of the company, process the payroll and update the files.
