Attaché Payroll: How leave works in Attaché

Updated over 3 months ago

See the sections below for descriptions on how Attaché handles leave and the main leave table control fields.

How Attaché handles leave

  • Employee Masterfiles hold leave balances (Entitled, Pro-rata and Contingent).

  • Leave Tables are applied to Masterfiles and control leave accrual.

  • Each leave table relates to a specific Income Category, e.g.: Annual Leave.

  • Leave accrual for an employee only occurs when a pay is processed for that employee.

  • When leave is taken, an Income line that has an Income Category that matches a leave type, e.g.: Annual Leave, is added to an employee's timesheet. When the pay is processed, the Employee's Masterfile leave balance will be reduced by the number of hours/days taken.

Leave table control fields

  • The Income Category: The leave type to which the leave table relates.

  • The Display in field: How leave is displayed on the Masterfile, which allows selection of either Days or Hours

  • The Calculate by field: How leave is calculated. For more information, see The Leave Table Calculate by setting.

  • Entitlement: How much leave the employee gets in a period

  • Entitlement Period: The period of time over which The Entitlement accrues

📌Note: before the end of the Entitlement Period is reached, any accrued leave is held in Pro-rata Owing.

  • When the Entitlement is received:

    • The Entitlement Period indirectly controls when the Pro-rata Owing accrual moves to Entitlement Owing.

    • The Entitlement Period must elapse for this to occur.

    • Attaché uses the Leave accrued up to and including date as well as the Last Entitlement Date on the Employee Masterfile to determine whether the Entitlement Period has elapsed.

    • If the Entitlement Period is set to hours, then the total of relevant worked hours is used instead.
