The details below explain how to install the Attaché Server ODBC Drivers for extracting Attaché data into 3rd party software for reporting and data analysis. ODBC stands for Open Database Connectivity and is a standard middleware software program for accessing database management systems (DBMS).
Attaché Server ODBC 32-bit and 64-bit
The Attaché Server ODBC drivers are available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The version you install will be dependent on the applications from which you wish to run ODBC rather than the operating system installed on your PC. Specifically for connectivity to Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs:
If you are using Microsoft Office (32-bit) you will need to install the 32-bit ODBC driver regardless of your operating system or your processor.
If you are running a 64-bit version of Microsoft Office, you will already have a 64-bit operating system and a 64-bit CPU so you will install the 64-bit ODBC driver.
🤓 Tip: To check whether you have 32- or 64-bit Microsoft Office, open one of your MS Office applications and go to Help on the File menu. Under About... you will see the version number with either 32-bit or 64-bit in brackets.
Installing Attaché Server ODBC
You should install the appropriate Attaché Server ODBC driver on every workstation where you intend to use it. As a general principle, you would run installation as an administrator user on each workstation to allow the ODBC driver to be available to all users on that workstation.
📌 Notes:
You can install both versions of the ODBC driver on the one workstation if you need both 32-bit and 64-bit access to the Attaché database. However, we recommend that you only install the driver appropriate to your version of Microsoft Office or other third-party reporting tools.
For Terminal Server, you need to install ODBC once at the server and then it will be available for all Terminal Server sessions that log in.
To install Attaché Server ODBC
Download the installer file from the links below:
If you are on Attaché version 24.1 and below, download the ODBC Installer version 1.0.4.2 file.
If you are on Attaché version 25.1.1, download the ODBC installer file from the release notes article: Access Attaché version 25.1.1 desktop release (October 2025).
Save the installer file to a known location in Windows Explorer. Make sure this location is accessible from all computers you need to run Attaché ODBC from.
On the workstation/server you need to install it on, right-click the downloaded AttacheServerODBC V1.0.4.2.exe file from the saved location and click Run as administrator.
The InstallShield Wizard will appear and prepare the installation.
When the preparation is finished, the Welcome page displays. Click the Next button to continue.
In the Setup Type screen, select Custom. Click the Next button to continue.
In the Choose Destination Location screen, accept the default destination folder: C:\Program Files\Attache Software\Attache ODBC.
Click the Next button to continue.
In the Select Version screen, pick the version of the Attaché ODBC driver which matches your Microsoft Office or third-party reporting tools. If necessary, both 32-bit and 64-bit can be installed.
Click the Next button to continue
Click the Install button to begin the installation.
When the installation is complete, click the Finish button to close the InstallShield Wizard.
You will then need to Set up a new ODBC DSN connection.
