Attaché: Create a new user login or manage existing user logins

You can set up any number of users in Attaché. However, only the number of licensed logins can access the software concurrently. When setting up a new user, you also set access to companies (datasets). To help keep your data secure, we recommend you only provide access to companies the user needs. For example, not all users need access to all history or payroll companies.


To create a new Attaché login

  1. Choose File, Maintain Users, Maintain. If you don’t see Maintain Users, you don’t have permission to add users. See: To grant someone permission to add users below.

  2. Type in a new Username.

  3. The system asks whether you want to add a new user. Click Yes.

  4. Enter the appropriate Password Level for this user (1 is the highest, 9 is the lowest).

    📌Note: using the password level feature allows the ability to restrict low-level users from accessing various functions of the software. See: Password levels.

  5. From the Options tab, choose the required selections for the user, and the companies the user can access.

    1. Select Companies (F7).

    2. Select All No (F12).

    3. Highlight the Company Name and then select Available (F7).

  6. From the Preferences tab, make the required selections for this user.

  7. (Recommended). Tick Password Required at Sign On for all the users in order to prevent unauthorised access. The new user will be prompted to create a password with they first log in.

  8. When satisfied with the selections, choose Accept (F9) to add the new user.

To grant someone permission to add users:

  1. Log in as Supervisor user or a user with similar permissions.

  2. Choose File, Maintain Users, Maintain.

  3. Enter the Username of the person you wish to grant the permission to.

  4. Select the Can add users checkbox.

  5. Choose Accept (F9) and Close (Esc).

  6. When that user next logs into Attaché, they will be able to add additional user accounts.
