At times, you may find unallocated customer credit adjustment notes on a customer Masterfile transactions (Trans F5) listing.
Generally, unallocated customer credit adjustment notes are created in one of the following ways:
User creates a customer credit adjustment note without allocating it to any customer invoice.
User creates a customer credit adjustment note and allocates a different amount to a customer invoice than the total amount of the customer credit adjustment note (e.g. the total amount of the customer credit adjustment note is $1,000 and you allocate $900 or $1,100 of it to a customer invoice).
To reverse an unallocated customer credit adjustment note:
Determine which invoice the credit adjustment note relates to:
If you absolutely cannot determine which invoice the unallocated amount belongs to, then select another invoice.
if there is no other invoice, then one must be created.
Allocate the unallocated customer credit adjustment note to the invoice identified in step 1. To do this use Customers, Transactions, Adjustments, Post Unallocated Trans.
If the above allocation causes the balance remaining on the invoice to become negative, refer to Reverse an Allocated Customer Credit Adjustment Note. In addition, refer to this article if the amount due on the invoice should not be reduced by the allocation of the credit adjustment note.
