Attaché Accounts: Post supplier or customer transactions showing as Pending in Automated Postings

Updated over 3 months ago

If you have Automated Postings Turned on, there may be some transactions that Automated Postings is unable to post for various reasons including:

  • A transaction is dated in a prior or future year.

  • A period is locked.

  • Transactions are showing in the wrong period.

Deciding where and when to post a transaction is a matter of practicality. Some examples are given below:

  • Period Based: If the posting comes from a module that is run on a period-based system, and you run End of Period each month, then generally all transactions go to the current GL Period.

  • Date Based: If you run modules as date-based you have more flexibility, which the following examples cover.

    • The date on a posted supplier invoice is in 2099, but what is the actual date on the invoice? If it is in December of the current year, then it should be posted to the December GL period, irrespective of the date entered, for a date-based Suppliers module.

    • If a transaction relates to a reversal of a sale, when should the reversal take effect? Most likely you'd want to post the reversal to the period in which it is to take effect, for a date-based system.

    • If the transaction relates to an adjustment that needs to be picked up in your Last Year company, then use Other Modules Postings in the Last Year company to pick up the transaction from the Live company. You'd also need to update Opening Balances in this case. See: Manually update my GL Opening Balances.

    • Generally, if you run a date-based system you would post a transaction to the period containing that date.

After you select one of the transactions in the Automated Postings screen, the right-hand panel of the Pending Transactions window will tell you how to post the transaction. Sometimes the panel will allow you to allocate the transaction from within the Pending Transactions window. Other times it will give you instructions on how to post the transaction.

If you are instructed to use Other Module Postings, follow the steps below:

  1. Post the transactions manually under General Ledger, Transactions, Other Modules, Post from other modules.

  2. Enter the Period Number and select the Modules to Post.

  3. Enter the Date Range.

  4. Click Accept (F9).
