Period End and Year End procedures change depending on whether you use the Date or Period Based method of accounting in an Attaché module. It is possible to use different methods in different modules.
Both GL and Asset Management are always period based.
Following the introduction of Payment Summaries and then STP Payroll is effectively date based, although Masterfile totals and certain reports are reset by running a period end or year end. This action will not affect the totals for STP however and so Payroll is effectively date based.
Use the following lists of criteria below for Date-based and Period-based to determine which method you use for the other modules. Note that some criteria are optional.
Date Based
Customers / Suppliers: Ageing report used to reconcile to the GL (Required)
Products: Product Status by Date report is used to reconcile to the GL (Required)
Customers / Suppliers / Products: the option to 'Use Date Based...' is ticked in Setups, Customers/Suppliers/Products, Options, Customer/Supplier/Product Options. (optional)
Customers / Suppliers / Products: You do not run End of Period each month (optional)
Customers / Suppliers / Products: You post to the GL with a date range (Required)
Period Based
Customers / Suppliers: Aged Trial Balance report used to reconcile to the GL (Required)
Products: Product Status report is used to reconcile to the GL (Required)
Customers / Suppliers / Products: the option to 'Use Date Based...' is NOT ticked in Setups, Customers/Suppliers/Products, Options, Customer/Supplier/Product Options. (Optional)
Customers / Suppliers / Products: You rigidly run End of Period, ensuring that all transactions are entered for the current period before running period end and allowing transactions for the new period to be entered (Required)
Customers / Suppliers / Products: You do NOT post to the GL with a date range (Required)
