Attaché: Update the Attaché desktop icon to point to a mapped drive

Changing the Attaché Desktop icon properties from a UNC path to a Mapped drive.

Updated over 3 months ago

For some of the Attaché programs and features to run correctly, the Attaché desktop icon needs to be configured to point to the Attaché executable file (AttBi.exe) as a mapped drive, NOT a UNC path.

📌Note:

  • A mapped drive starts with an alphabetical letter: i.e. X:\Attache Desktop\AttBi.exe (Where X:\ represents the shared network folder that is mapped on the computer accessing Attaché).

  • A UNC path displays as \\<Server name>\Apps\AttBi.exe, where <Server name> is the computer/server where the Attaché program files are installed, and Apps is the shared folder.

Attaché programs and features that rely on a correctly mapped drive

  • Alex Connect (AlexQ.exe).

  • Attaché Archive (AttBackup.exe).

  • Can affect logged-in users being released when closing Attaché desktop icon is not correctly configured.

To Update the Attaché desktop icon properties

You may need your IT Support or Internal Network Administrator to help you with this task.

  1. Make sure the correct mapped drive is available on each computer accessing Attaché. See: Setting up a mapped network drive for Attaché Workstation.

  2. Once completed, on each computer accessing Attaché, right-click on the Attaché desktop icon and choose Properties.

  3. In the Target field, change the value to X:\Attache Desktop\AttBi.exe.

    📌Note:

    • X:\ represents the shared network folder that is mapped on the computer accessing Attaché.

    • Attache Desktop represents YOUR Attaché Program folder name (change it to your Attaché program folder name if different).

  4. In the Start in field, change this to X:\Attache Desktop as per instructions in Step 3.

  5. Click OK to save the changes.
