Attaché: Install the Attaché workstation

Updated over 3 months ago

You may need your IT to perform some of these steps. You will need to ensure that a mapped drive has been created pointing to the Attaché Server's application directory (example \\ATTACHESERVER\Apps - Mapped to S: Drive on the local machine). See: Setting up a mapped network drive for Attaché Workstation.

📌Note: Attaché does not support connections of a UNC path so make sure you have a correct mapped drive as stated above.

Installing the Attaché workstation in Windows

To install the Attaché workstation:
(Note: Attaché is only supported by currently supported Windows Operating Systems. See: System and network prerequisite setup requirements.

  1. Go to the mapped Attaché directory (As created above by your IT in the above example S: drive), locate the folder inside called: Installers.

  2. Inside this folder, right-click on the installation file (AttacheWorkstation.exe) and select Run as administrator.

  3. If prompted by the User Account Control, select Yes.

  4. If prompted by Windows Smart Screen, click on More info and choose Run anyway.

  5. The Attaché workstation installation begins. Follow the prompts through to the end leaving all as default.

Creating an Attaché shortcut for the desktop

  1. Navigate to the mapped drive as created above.

  2. Find a file called AttStartBI.exe (On Windows 11 right click and show more options)

  3. Then select Send to, Desktop.

  4. The shortcut has now been created on the desktop called AttStartBI - Shortcut Rename this file to Access Attaché

  5. You can now use this newly created icon to launch Attaché.

Manual entry of data connection string

If the workstation belongs to a different subnet from the computer hosting the Attaché Database Server, when Attaché is first run it will not be able to find the server. To establish the database connection, you will need to manually enter the database connection string. See Manual entry of data connection string (Attaché workstation).
