Attaché Alex version 5.4 is the latest version of Attaché Alex, and utilises Microsoft message queueing and the Attaché Services to send documents. See the tasks below that you need to do to install this version of Alex.
Pre-installation tasks
In Attache go to Tools, Company, System, System Audit
Click the Processor Console tab and check that the following services have the following versions. If not, you will not be able to install version 5.4:
Identity - 22.5.0.1 or above
S3Updater - 20.2.6.6 or above
Services - 20.2.27.117 or above
Ensure you have Administrator access to the server where Attache is installed.
Uninstall previous versions of Alex
If you have previous version of AlexConnect 5.4 installed on your server and on all workstations, follow the steps below to uninstall it:
In Windows, go to Start, Control Panel, Programs and Features.
Select AlexConnect for Attaché from the list of installed programs
Right-click and Select Uninstall.
Install the new Alex 5.4 version
Check your Attaché installed location and note the Program Folder. This may be a Mapped network drive if Attaché is installed on a server. See: Find Attaché technical information.
Run Attaché as administrator.
Go to Tools, Company, Document Management and select Install/Upgrade Connector. If this does not work
Navigate to the Attache program folder and then into the Installers folder
Right-click AlexConnect.exe and choose the Run as Administrator option.
The install wizard will auto run.
Click Next on the welcome page of the wizard.
In the Choose Destination Location dialog box, browse to the location of the folder where Attaché is installed. Note that on some newer workstations, your IT may have to give access to the Mapped Network Drive where Attache is installed by using registry changes etc)
Click Next to accept the new destination location and begin the installation.
When the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog displays, click the Finish button.
Verify that ASACDP.exe file located in the Attache program folder has a size of 74,520 kb
Test send an Alex document.
If you installed this version due to problems with Alex documents, these errors should now be resolved.
