Error: WTSVirtualChannelOpen failed: 31 when exporting reports to Excel

This error occurs if you have not yet set up the CHS File Launcher program. To export reports to Excel on your local computer, you will need to install CHS File Launcher on your local computer.

For the download, installation, and usage steps for the CHS File Launcher, see Set up and use the File Launcher for MS Office on Cloud Hosted Services. Here is a summary of those steps:

  1. Download CHS File Launcher.

  2. Install VC_redist.x64.exe as Administrator.

  3. Reboot the PC.

  4. Log back in and install CHSFileLauncherInstaller.msi.


If you have already installed the CHS File Launcher and you are still getting the error, check the following:

  1. Log into the computer with the administrator profile.

  2. Re-install the CHS File Launcher from that profile for everyone.

  3. Log back into the user's profile and confirm it is now working.
