Attaché Payroll: Payday Superannuation user guide

Payday Super is a significant change to payroll processing requirements across Australia. It is a legislative requirement that mandates employers contribute to employee superannuation accounts within the same pay cycle as wages are paid. Previously, employers had up to 28 days after the end of the quarter to make superannuation contributions.

The Payday Super legislative change comes into effect on 1 July 2026.

We have added new features in Attaché to more easily manage the new Payday Super changes and requirements.

PayDay Super new features and changes within Attaché Payroll

  • Payroll Processing workflow: The Payroll processing workflow has been updated with new features for Payday Super processing.

  • New menus available from Payroll, Process Payroll, Payday Super:

    • Payday Super Validation: For reviewing and fixing employee and super fund data issues before making payments.

    • Member Verification: For confirming and tracking super fund member verification requests.

    • Super Payments: For Managing and submitting employer super contributions.

    ⚠️Important:

    • If you use the old Super Fund Export feature in Attaché Payroll (from Payroll, Reports, Superannuation, Super Funds Export), you will NOT be able to use this format in the new Payday Super Super Payments menu.

    • Payday Super payments can now only be submitted using ClickSuper or by using the SuperStream Alternative File Format.

Payroll Processing Workflow changes

The basic payroll processing workflow has additional steps:

  • The new Super Payment button/step in the workflow launches the Super Payments screen.

  • Validation warnings have been added to Check Pay options in both the Process Payroll Workflow and in the Transactions and Process Payroll sub menus to help identify and resolve issues proactively during payroll processing.

Payday Superannuation Validation menu

⚠️Important: Before you use Payday Super Validation, it is strongly suggested you perform your end of year housekeeping, most importantly on terminated employees to avoid excess validation issues on terminated employees from previous financial years with no current earnings in the financial year.

You access this feature from Payroll, Process Payroll, Payday Super, Payday Super Validation.

This brings up the main Payroll Validation screen.

Payroll Validation checks your employee records and super fund setup for issues that could prevent successful super payments. Issues are grouped into Employees, Super Funds, and Setup.

  1. At the top of the header is a summary of issues found and what to do with the issues.

  2. The Help screen which explains each section of the screen.

  3. Use the Refresh button to update the screen after changes have been made.

  4. The Employees, Super Funds and Setup tabs. Click each to display the tabs. 📌Note: the number of errors in each tab display as a red number on the tab.

  5. Issues: will be identified clearly in each task area on the Employees tab.

  6. All Clear - no issues found.

Understanding Issue Severity

  • Blocking issues (red): Must be fixed before super payments can be processed.

  • Warnings (amber): Worth reviewing but won't block payments.

  • All clear (green): no issues found.

🤓Tips

  • After making corrections, click Refresh to confirm the issues are resolved.

  • Fix buttons open the relevant setup screen in Attache directly.

Member Verification menu

Member Verification (MVR) helps you confirm changes to employee super fund details. When an employee's fund information changes, the system flags them for verification. You review, confirm, and download a file for your clearing house.

Verification Required

The MVR process can be used in these specific circumstances:

  1. Before making a contribution to a super fund for the first time.

  2. Where there has been a change in employee information (such as a name change).

⚠️Important: Before performing MVR for the first time, set up your Export Settings Under the Super Payments menu, Export Settings. See the Export Settings sub-section from the Super Payments section below.

Features in this section:
