The Pay Period dates displaying on the pay advice depend on what Pay Frequency an employee has selected in the Masterfile on the Pay Details page i.e. monthly, fortnightly, weekly. Attache will calculate the number of days in the pay period based on the Pay Frequency and the Pay Period Ending date entered on the Check Pay screen. Single Touch Payroll uses the Pay Date only, so an incorrect Pay Period ending date will not affect this.
If you are not consistent with your Pay Period Ending dates, then you may see that the Pay Period Start dates do not line up with the last pay period processed.
Example:
An employee is set as a fortnightly Pay Frequency in the Masterfile.
The employee is first paid using Pay Period Ending date 10th March.
The next pay the Period ending date was entered 26th March.
The Pay Period start date for the last pay will be 12th March rather than 11th March; 14 days prior to the Pay Period Ending date.
Pay Period End Dates
Pay Period Ending dates can also be affected by the Tax Periods field on the Timesheet. If this is changed, then Attache will calculate the Pay Period Ending date by adding the pay frequency multiple to this date
Example:
An employee is set as a Weekly Pay Frequency in the Masterfile.
The Tax Period is set to 2.
The Pay Period Ending date is entered as June 2nd on the Check Pay screen.
The Pay Period End date will be calculated to be June 9th instead, adding a further week to the date.
This will display on the Pay Advice.
"Use Date paid for GL" setting in Payroll options
Your Date Paid dates may also be affected if you have checked Use Date paid for GL from Setups, Payroll, Options, Payroll Options, Options tab, Options task area. See: Payroll Setups help and user guide, Attaché Payroll Setups Help (PDF) for more details on this checkbox setting.
Termination Pays
Termination dates may not align with the pay period end date for a terminated employee. In this instance, enter a comment line in the timesheet section of the pay that clearly notates the termination date. i.e.: "Employee termination date - dd/mm/yyyy"
