Attaché Payroll (Australia): Single touch Payroll ATO rejection error "A field contains invalid data ElectronicMailAddressT CMN.ATO.GEN.XML03"

Updated over 4 months ago

The Full ATO Rejection Error message is:

"The ATO rejected this batch
A field contains invalid data (such as letters in numeric or date field). The value specified for an item does not match the item type (value = "", item type = String, uniqueID = http://www.sbr.gov.au/ato/payevnt:ElectronicMailAddressT) Hint: The actual length is less than the MinLength value. CMN.ATO.GEN.XML0"

The ATO have made a change where they require the contact email address as part of their Standard Business Reporting requirements, and if you are experiencing this issue this will be missing within the Setups, Standard Business Reporting area in your Attaché Online organisation.

To resolve this error message

  1. Log in to Attaché Online and open your Attaché Online organisation.

  2. Navigate to Settings, Standard Business Reporting.

  3. Under the Registered Businesses section, under the Actions column header, click Edit. This opens the Add Business, Business details window.

  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the window and enter your main business email address in the Email field, and Click Save.

  5. Navigate back to the Single Touch Payroll menu, click on the ATO Rejected batch to open it.

  6. Click the Refresh Batch button, and then click Run Update. After the batch has refreshed, it should then show the status as Ready To Submit.

  7. Sign and Submit the batch as normal, and you should not get the ATO rejection error again.
