Attaché Payroll automatically handles the situation where an employee receives leave in advance based on what has been setup in the leave table setup screen. Leave to be added in advance will be seen as a balance after the first pay has been processed for the employee, after the minimum service period. If this is zero then it will appear after the first pay is complete.
You would not select Accrue in Advance on leave that employees are entitled to as soon as they start working e.g. Annual Leave, Long Service Leave or Sick leave.
Go to Setups, Payroll, Leave Tables, Maintain
Tick to Accrue in Advance and then select the Reset Entitlement Type ie what happens to the balance after the Entitlement period.
Enter the Entitlement and Entitlement Period.
Select the Entitlement Received on.
Type the Minimum Service Period if this applies. (This can be zero).
Enter the Entitlement after Minimum Service value which would normally be the same as the Entitlement.
Example 1
An employee is to receive 10 days study leave as soon as they start with the company and 10 days for each following year.
The leave table would be set to Accrue in Advance, 10 days for every 1 year with a minimum service period of 0.000000000 hours and an entitlement after minimum service of 10.000000000 days.
When this employee receives their first pay 10 days is updated to the Entitlement Owing field. The Last Entitlement Date remains blank as this field is used to indicate when a full year has expired in order to update the following 10 days.
Example 2
An employee is to receive 5 days after 3 months and 8 days each following year.
The leave table would be set to Accrue in Advance, 8 days for every 1 year with a minimum service period of 3.000000000 months and an entitlement after minimum service of 5.000000000 days.
When this employee receives a pay either on or after 3 months have passed the 5 days is updated to the Entitlement Owing field. The Last Entitlement Date remains blank as this field is used to indicate when a full year has expired in order to update the 8 days.
