Attaché Payroll: Import third party timesheet data using disk file entry

Updated over 3 months ago

Disk File Entry allows you to import time sheet data from third-party applications that generate time sheet detail files. Disk File Entries creates time sheet pays that operators can check or modify in the usual way. For assistance with using Disk File Entries, please contact your Attaché consultant.

How to import third party timesheet data

Before attempting to test or read disk file entries into Attaché Payroll:

  • Pay element code and fields must exist in Attache and in the correct file format.

  • Alphabetic characters must be in uppercase.

  • Do not include negative values, unless indicated in the file format.

  • Do not exceed field capacities.

  • Do not include terminated employees.

  • Do not include employees who have been issued a final payment summary.

To import third-party data

  1. Take an Archive backup of your payroll data. If you find errors or incorrect data after importing your timesheet data, you can then restore your data to the pre-import state. See: Disk file import timesheet data has not imported correctly.

  2. Copy the file produced by the third-party software to your Attaché Payroll company's resource folder. For example: C:\AttacheBI\Resources\company name. (For Attaché Account users, copy the file to the directory containing your Attaché Payroll data.) Note: To check your company data path, in Attaché Payroll choose Tools, Company, System, System Status

  3. Rename the file to PAYTSHT.INP.

  4. To check the file without importing it, choose Payroll, Transactions, Disk File Entries, Test File Entries

  5. Correct any errors reported.

  6. To import the data, choose Payroll, Transactions, Disk File Entries, Read File Entries

  7. On completion, the application renames the input file to PAYTSHT.BAK.
