Attaché Payroll (Australia): Prefilling of Single Touch Payroll Information to W1 and W2 in the ATO Portal Electronic Activity Statement

Updated over 3 months ago

On the 1st of July 2023, the ATO introduced PAYG withholding Prefill of Labels W1 & W2 in the electronic Activity Statements (EAS) using STP reported employer amounts. Please see: Single Touch Payroll: Compliance to ATO rules and regulations

Each STP batch Gross amounts will now contribute to W1 and the batch PAYG will add to W2.

  • W1 includes Total salary, wages, any other before tax payments made in the PAYG Withholding Period.

  • W2 is the sum of amounts withheld from the payments shown in W1.

In layman's terms, this means that:

  • Each STP batch will now populate in the ATO Portal - EAS and contribute to a total amount.

  • Individual STP batch totals will go through now and prefill in the STP Reporting section in the EAS.

  • Each total batch amount for W1 and W2 will add together and be displayed under the STP Reported Amount column in the main EAS page.

What can cause a difference in what has been reported

Sometimes the autofill values won't match your Pay Totals History report in Attache.

  • STP batches that were never submitted to the ATO

  • STP batches that weren’t created after a pay was completed

  • The Pay Totals History report has not been reconciled correctly for BAS purposes [link to ‘What is the STP Batch total]

What do I need to do if the prefilled total amount doesn’t match your payroll amounts
