In Attache you can set up customised tax scales if needed for particular employees due to an ATO request or if a group of employees need to be taxed in a particular way due to their occupation.
To set up a new tax scale in Attaché:
Go to Setups, Payroll, Tax Scales, Maintain.
Enter a code for the tax scale. For a downward variation tax scale as instructed by the ATO use a % sign in the code. (Any tax scales with the % sign will not appear in the STP setups in Attache Online - which is correct).
Add a meaningful Description.
Enter the Weekly Earnings less than values. This can be entered on different lines and graduated using earnings ranges.
Add Co-efficient A (tax rate) and Co-efficient B (deducted variation value).
The calculation is Weekly earnings x Co-efficient A - Co-efficient B.
If you have employees who use one of the special Tax Treatment Codes for Horticulturists and Shearers, Actors and/or Senior Pensioners, you need to set these up as above and map your custom tax scale to the relevant Tax Treatment Code in Attaché Online.
On the Tax Scale Codes tab, check that your custom tax scales for Horticulturists and Shearers, Actors and/or Senior Pensioners are listed.
If any custom tax scale codes are missing, go to Setups, Payroll, Tax Scales, Maintain and check if the code contains a percentage sign (%).
For any such codes, create a new code and don’t use a percentage sign in the code. Only custom codes that do not contain the percentage sign are displayed in Attaché Online.
Map each custom code to the appropriate Tax Treatment on the Tax Scale tab, from the Attache Online, STP Setup menu.
