Attaché: Set up a new Keystroke File Import inbox for unattended KFI

Updated over 3 months ago

For unattended Keystroke File Import, the KFI files must be placed in the Resources folder in a sub- folder called INBOX in either KFIDATA or an individual user's folder.

You can place the keystroke import files in the KFIDATA folder found within the Resources folder for each company (e.g. \ATTACHEBI\Resources\Company\KFIDATA\INBOX). Any user who is signed onto Attaché and has the appropriate menu access rights for this company can trigger an unattended KFI to begin processing on their workstation.

The user's folder with the Resources folder is recommended when using unattended KFI (e.g. \ATTACHEBI\Resources\Company\USERS\USERNAME\INBOX) to avoid all users from triggering the import. The KFI will begin processing only when the designated user signs onto Attaché, provided that they have the appropriate menu access rights.

For standard Keystroke File Import, it is not mandatory for the files to be located in KFIDATA or in the user's folder. Files can be imported from any drive or directory. When selecting an import file, the application defaults to the KFIDATA folder under the current data directory.

For example, if your current Resources directory is \ATTACHEBI\Resources\MyCompany then all KFI files in \ATTACHEBI\Resources\MyCompany\KFIDATA are displayed. The KFIDATA folder does not automatically exist in the resources folder. Therefore, the first time you use Keystroke File Import you should create a folder called KFIDATA.

Alternatively, the files may be placed in an individual user's folder, under the company's Resources folder. The user's folder is created automatically the first time a user saves their report options, in a path similar to the following example \ATTACHEBI\Resources\MyCompany\USERS\USERNAME. If the user has not saved any options previously, you will need to create this folder yourself. If you are using unattended KFI, you will then need to create a sub-folder called INBOX where you will place the keystroke import files.
