Unlock and lock a General Ledger period

When posting transactions to General Ledger, you may experience the following:

  • You need to lock a General Ledger period to stop Incorrect/wrong processing.

  • Getting message: 'Period Locked' and cannot post transaction to GL for selected period, which will require the period to be unlocked to post the transactions.

  • Follow the steps below to lock or unlock a General Ledger period.


To lock a General Ledger Period

  1. Go to Setups, General Ledger, Options, General Ledger options.

  2. Select the period to Lock.

  3. Use Lock (F6) to lock just that period or LockAll (F11) to lock all periods.


To unlock a General Ledger Period

  1. Go to Setups, General Ledger, Options, General Ledger options.

  2. Select the period to be unlocked.

  3. Use Unlock (F7) to unlock just that period or UnlockAll (F12) to unlock all periods.
