If an asset needs to be assigned to a different location, you can update its location using an Asset Transfer transaction. This keeps the asset's value and future depreciation unchanged.
Change the location for an asset
Click Transactions, then click Assets, then click Transfer.
Enter or select the required Asset Code.
Click New Transaction (F7).
Enter the Date of the transfer.
(Optional) Update the Reference and Comment fields.
In the Location field, enter or select the new location code.
Save the transaction.
The asset will now be assigned to the new location.
📌Note: The location must already exist before you can select it in an Asset Transfer transaction. To add a location, click Setups, then click Asset Management, then click Location.
Additional information
Asset Transfers can be used to update asset groupings such as Location, Category, Department, and Asset Group.
Transferring an asset does not change the asset's value or future depreciation.
