Attaché Asset Management: Error 'No assets have been found which are suitable for a period depreciation transaction'

Steps you can take to resolve this error when running depreciation in Attaché Asset Management.

This error appears when Asset Management cannot find any assets eligible for depreciation. For an asset to be depreciated, its Date depreciated to must be before the End Date of the current period. Follow the steps below to identify and resolve the cause.

Check the Date depreciated to and End Date

To check whether the dates are aligned:

  1. Go to Masterfiles, Assets, Enquire, Balances and Activity tab and note the Date depreciated to for the affected asset.

  2. Go to Setups, Asset Management, Options, Periods tab and check the End Date for the Current Period.

If the Date depreciated to and the End Date are the same, the asset has already been depreciated to the end of the current period. This means the Current Period may not have been advanced. Continue to the next section to resolve this.

Check the Current Period

Go to Setups, Asset Management, Options, General tab (or the Periods tab) and check the Current Period value.

If the End Date for the Current Period is incorrect

  1. Go to Setups, Asset Management, Options, Periods tab.

  2. Correct the End Date for the Current Period.

  3. Click Ok or press F9 to save.

You should now be able to run depreciation. No further steps are required.

If the Current Period is not up to date

If the Current Period has not been advanced, an End of Period procedure needs to be completed for the previous period. Work through the steps below in order.

  1. Check that any asset additions entered for a future period have not been activated (not critical, but best practice).

  2. Check that all new assets and disposals for the incomplete period are properly recorded.

  3. If required, run depreciation for any assets added or updated in the previous step.

📌Note: The depreciation run does not need to be filtered. It will only depreciate assets that have not already been depreciated.

  4. Check that all monthly reports have been printed to PDF and filed correctly.

  5. Ensure an archive has been taken — exit Asset Management and select File, Archive Current Company from the Attaché Accounts menu.

  6. Open Asset Management again and transfer General Ledger entries by going to Transactions, General Ledger, Transfer.

  7. Go back to Attaché Accounts and go to General Ledger, Transactions, Other Modules, Post from Other Modules to post Asset Management entries to the correct GL period.

  8. Reconcile your asset accounts in the General Ledger to your Asset Management reports printed and filed above.

  9. Once your assets subledger reconciles to your General Ledger, run period end by going to Transactions, Asset Management, Period End.
