Attaché Payroll (Australia): Pay extra tax towards a study and training support loan tax debt

If an employee requests to pay extra tax towards a Study and Training Support Loan (previously called a HECS debt), you can do so in Attaché. Assuming the payment will be recurring, you would set this up in Employee Standard pays.

  1. Go to Payroll, Masterfiles, Employee Standard Pays, Maintain.

  2. Select the Employee Code in question from the Employee Code field.

  3. In the Function drop-down box, select Modify Pay.

  4. Double click in the Tax field.

  5. Click in the Study and Training Support Loans field under the Tax Per Period heading, enter the total amount of tax including the standard amount + the extra required payment (You can use the calculator icon within the field to calculate this total).

  6. Once entered, click Accept (F9) and then Accept (F9) again to accept the changes to the Standard Pay.

When the employee next has a pay created from the standard pay, it should deduct the required amount of tax correctly including the extra amount towards the Study and Training Support Loan debt.
