Attaché Accounts: Set up or edit BAS/GST Allocations

Updated over 3 months ago

The BAS Funds/GST Allocation is where you configure your system to produce the details for the BAS/GST Return. You do so by associating each of your tax codes with a part of the form, as well as specifying the details of your accounting and reporting methods.

In Australia, the ATO reporting document is called the Business Activity Statement (BAS). In New Zealand, the IRD reporting document is the GST Return. You register your accounting and reporting methods with the taxation department. Changes should only be made to your BAS/GST Allocation options at the end of a reporting period (preferably at year end). If you want to alter the choices you have already registered, speak to your accountant and have the changes approved by the appropriate authority (such as the Australian Taxation Office or the New Zealand Inland Revenue Department).

To Setup or edit your BAS Funds/GST Allocation menu options

  1. Choose Setups, Company Setups, Options, BAS/GST Allocation.

  2. From the BAS/GST Allocation tab;

    1. Choose your Accounting method.

    2. Choose your Reporting method.

    3. Choose your Lodgement method.

  3. Choose the appropriate Tax Code for both the Sales to Customers and Purchases from Suppliers columns.

  4. Click Accept (F9) to save changes.
