When general ledger reports show ???? and not figures, it means that the data in the fields exceeds the set field length. This could happen because:
The values in your general ledger are correct but are very large values or because of some sort of error during data entry.
There are incorrect values. For example: stock entries may have caused a large variance showing in two different general ledger accounts.
To remove the question marks for correct values
If question marks are displaying instead of numbers in standard financial reports:
Go to General Ledger, Reports, Financial.
Select the affected report.
Select the Options Tab of the report and set rounding to Yes.
Select Whole Dollars or Thousands.
Choose Print (F9).
If question marks are displaying instead of numbers in your custom financial reports:
Go to Setups, General Ledger and expand Financial Reporter.
Click Setup and Print.
Click Existing Report Layout,
Select the Report Layout Name.
Click Page Down to go to the next page and edit the width for each column.
Choose Save (F5).
To remove the question marks or Incorrect values
In the case of incorrect values do the following:
Use the Transactions by Account report to help identify incorrect transactions in accounts that have been affected.
Once the values of these transactions are determined, use a general journal to reverse or contra their effect on the general ledger. Enter a general journal to contra the effect or adjust it to the correct value that should be reported. See: Enter a General Ledger journal.
